Is educational therapy right for my child?

Tutoring typically focuses on understanding class material or preparing for a test. Educational therapy looks more broadly at what makes school challenging, building academic skills alongside strategies for organization, studying and independence.

It may be a good fit if your child:

  • Works hard but still falls behind, or their grades don’t reflect how bright they are
  • Struggles to plan, prioritize, start tasks or keep track of assignments
  • Finds reading, writing, math or studying difficult
  • Has ADHD, dyslexia or processing differences and needs strategies that fit
  • Feels anxious, frustrated or unmotivated about school
  • Has tried tutoring, but the same struggles keep coming back

What families say

“Ali has been a game changer for my son. She taught him planning, prioritizing, and organization skills that made a huge difference… Now, he’s not only keeping up but excelling.”
Parent of a 9th grader
“She taught me how to organize my work, manage my time, and actually understand what I was learning. Now I’m getting better grades, but the best part is I finally feel confident in myself.”

Questions parents ask

How long will it take to see progress?

Progress varies depending on the student’s needs and goals. Consistent sessions and practice between meetings help students build skills and make new strategies part of their routine. We’ll review progress together and adjust the approach as needed.

What happens during a session?

Sessions may include working through current assignments, practicing academic skills, planning upcoming work or developing study strategies. The focus depends on the student’s needs and goals.

Will I be involved as a parent?

For younger students, regular updates help you understand their progress and reinforce strategies at home. Parent coaching is available separately if you’d like more guidance. For college students, we agree on parent involvement together.
